Biking

Whether cycle touring, or looking for mountain bike adventure, Wellington's Kiwi Holiday Park is an ideal place to stay! Lots of hot water, and a range of accommodation from tent and motor home sites to excellent value Eco Cabins & Motel Units await your tied body!

The camp is 400 metes from a dairy for supplies & chocolate! Upper Hutt township, with a choice of restaurants & bars is 2.5 km away . If you want a beer, the Rimutuka tavern & bottle store are only 5 minutes bike ride away. Get there the right weekend & you can see the results of the annual pig hunting competition. (Or the wrong weekend, if you are not into pig hunting!)

Cycle tourists heading to the beautiful Wairarapa & then Hawkes Bay will love our 32 Hectors of park and bush land, yet we are only 28km from the Interislander ferry. While you can cycle from Wellington, motor traffic is heavy in places. We suggest you take the free bus from the Interislander Ferry to the Wellington Railway station and get off the frequent commuter train in Upper Hutt and start (or end, if you are going the other way) your North Island tour in a more cycle friendly environment. We are a 15 minute cycle from the Upper Hutt station.

Good news, the traffic lights you go through on your way to us are the last set you will see till Hastings, 340km north! We are set on the banks of the Hutt river, the sound of the Hutt river, along with the native birds is all you will here as you drift off to sleep after a hard days travel. You will not here the sound of traffic!

Mountain bikers. Wellington's Kiwi Holiday Park is amongst a bunch of great rides you can do, on your own, or with the friends you get together with for biking. Use our free air before going, & our bike wash down afterwards. We have covered BBQ areas for tales & a beer afterwards, great beds & lots of hot water!

Trails range from the legendary & notorious Karapoti, to easy rides along the beautiful Hutt River bike & walking trail. The Rimutuka incline is popular .

Several beautiful Lord of The Rings film sites are nearby within easy biking distance, including “Rivendell”, set in the very pretty Kaitoke Regional Park. We have maps & practical advice on local rides at reception.

Also just next door there is a traffic and safety cyclist course that is perfect for all ages.

So if Biking is your thing, we guarantee you will love staying with us! We also have contact with the local bike shop who will hire you a bike if you do not have one they will even drop you off at some of the great rides in the local, but these do need to be booked in advance!
