Dog Walking Near the Holiday Park

One of the advantages of staying with us is having excellent outdoor walking areas nearby.

Te Awa Kairangi / Hutt River Trail

The Hutt River Trail provides kilometres of riverside walking through the Hutt Valley and is easily accessible from the Upper Hutt area.

It's ideal for a morning walk before heading out for the day or for enjoying a longer walk with your dog.

Dog-access rules vary along the trail. Dogs may be exercised off lead on permitted sections when under control, while leads are required on stop-bank paths, sealed shared pathways and other signposted areas.

Please follow current signs and local council requirements when walking your dog.

Te Haukāretu Park and Riverside Area

Nearby Te Haukāretu Park provides access to the Hutt River Trail and surrounding river corridor.

Dogs are permitted on lead in Te Haukāretu Park, making the surrounding river-trail network a useful option for guests wanting to exercise their dogs while staying with us.

Dog-Friendly Harcourt Park

Harcourt Park is directly beside Wellington's Kiwi Holiday Park, making our location especially convenient for guests travelling with dogs.

Dogs are welcome in Harcourt Park and can be exercised on or off lead, provided they are kept under control and owners follow the applicable park rules.

Dog poo bag dispensers are located around Harcourt Park, along with conveniently placed rubbish bins for disposing of used bags.

Having a large dog-friendly park right next door means you don't need to drive somewhere every time your dog needs a walk. Simply head out from the holiday park and enjoy the open spaces and surrounding area with your four-legged travelling companion.

For dog walking, we recommend using permitted sections of the nearby Hutt River Trail and other designated Upper Hutt dog-exercise areas.
